The Gumbo Pot has carried on the legacy of serving authentic New Orleans food in the Farmers Market since 1986. In the beginning it took some time to catch on with the Los Angeles food crowd because back then, with the exception of donuts and corned beef, the Farmers Market was not known for its restaurants, A series of New Orleans expatriates have added their touches to the menu over the years, with the main concession to LA tastes having been to make dishes equally flavorful but more healthful than you might find in the Crescent City. The Gumbo Pot is owned and operated by Clinton Thompson who started with company in 1994 and trained in all aspects of operation before taking over in 2005, He's dedicated to keeping The Gumbo Pot the preeminent New Orleans eatery in Los Angeles.
